Certified diamonds are an alternative form of investment that has gained popularity in recent years, characterized by great socio-economic instability.

One of the fundamental characteristics of an investment diamond is its certification. They must be analyzed by an independent and reputable gemological laboratory. Globally recognized certifications are those issued by GIA, IGI Antwerp and HRD. These certifications provide an impartial assessment of a diamond's characteristics, such as color, clarity, cut and weight.

For diamonds, there are standard GIA parameters that allow you to evaluate the maximum price to pay for each certified stone; once the price corresponding to the Rapaport price list has been identified, the dealer's skill lies in offering that diamond at the maximum possible discount.

It is advisable to range intelligently between various carats, various degrees of clarity and color, as well as the various shapes of cut. The technical characteristics of diamonds suitable for purchase for investment can be summarized through the following parameters:

• Carat weight from 0.50 to 2.00 ct for easy liquidity.
• Color from D to H.
• Clarity from IF to VS.
• Cut, polish and symmetry from Excellent to Very Good.
• Fluorescence from None to Faint.
• NO BGM, i.e. the stone must not have brownish (Brownish) or greenish (Greenish) undertones and must not have a milky/opaque appearance (Milky). These characteristics are often not reported in the certificates and greatly depreciate the diamond.
